What do you think makes certain people so reserved?!

Question: Their culture and the atmosphere in which they grew up would play some part, i would think. But there doesn't have to be anything "wrong" with them. They don't have to have some kind of inadequacy or problem to be quiet, or to stand back. We should all be allowed to be ourselves without anyone having to decide there is something pathological in it.

We are all so different, and yet still have much in common. i suppose there are as many reasons for any person to be who he or she is as there are people, but i do find all of us, every one, precious and rare.

gentle thoughts...

gentle thoughts...

Anxiety

low self esteem

Shyness. When you first meet me, that's the impression you will get.

Hopefully, your opinion will change shortly thereafter.

Lack of self confidence is also a factor.

they just dont want to talk, whats wrong with that!!!

I worked for lawyers for most of my life and you have to be very dignified and reserved in that job. Thankfully, I am not working in that field anymore, so I can be more of myself, being more fun and expressive.

they're comfortable in their own skin and realize that they don't need to be the loudest person in the room to be respected. Sometimes the most social people are also the most insecure. Sometimes if you don't have anything intelligent to say, it's better to be quiet and not make a fool of yourself.

Because They CAN Be....!!

The shame they feel in the presence of someone as awesome as you and me.

misunderstanding...
differences in thoughts...

feelings of inadequacy,

or just nothing to say

They're afraid they'll say something stupid and other people will laugh at them. That's how I am.If someone laughs at me,my cheeks turn tomato-y red and I want to crawl under a rock.

their unsure of themselves and self conscious.
better not to say anything then say something wrong or corny

There trust been breaken..

I think it comes from having an intense awareness, and feeling the need to protect themselves from the insensitivity of those around them.

A sense of self respect makes some people reserved as they wish to maintain a very respectable distance from the persons who try to come closer to them, which they don't want. So being reserved helps them..Some people who think themselves superior to others also like to remain reserved.. It bolsters their ego..

It can be a little like yin yang, we all have some situations in which we feel more vulnerable and cautious, so are more reserved as we feel it out. Some people have a very few situations that draw out the reserved quality, others have a lot. In some ways it can come from lack of ability to trust that we can handle the moment.

depends on their upbringing, and experiences

sometimes peer pressure alters a person...

sometimes wanting to fit in will too.

edit:
each unto their own way.

...a desire to preserve personal privacy due to high expectations of self worth and fear of not being accepted as one's self...so they become somewhat "robotic"...it's really a defense mechanism

sincerely I think there's nothing more normal than being private... it means that you're comfortable with yourself and your world...
