Why do women get final say in home decor?!
Question: So, my wife was out of town over the weekend, and I installed a pole in our bedroom. She came back last night, and insisted that I take it out. Is this fair? I really bought it for her.

You know, take out the little antedote about the pole, and you've actually got a seriously valid question there. If both people in a relationship are supposed to be equal on chores, etc...It does beg the question as to why the female always has the final say in home decor.

because we are the care takers of the home and yall are the bill payers and the ones that make the mess in the house and we have to clean up your junk.

Relationships are never equal. Someone always has the last say. If it was equal (50/50) nothing would ever get done. there's always a sway one way or the other on someones part.
I think you approached it wrong with her; you should have gotten her the pole dancing lessons first and then got her the pole. It may have not been such a shock that way...... just wait a few days she might get use to it if you give it a go too.
In my house it is 50-50 we clear things with each other. My husband loves coca-cola so I bought border to go in our kitchen to match the red paint that was here when we moved in. I also bought glasses to match. My daughter wanted her room pink (she is 3) so for her birthday we painted her room pink. We clear things with each other before we just do it. Maybe you should do the same to prevent things like that from happening.
