I like Lil Wayne.

i DO like lil wayne

eminem is real

jay z has talent

both are good performers.

Nope...I like lil' Wayne!

Why isn't LL Cool J on the list?

o boo hoo u asked for somone better and they're the "better someones" that the people came up with

lil' whatever.....Just because you think no one is better doesn't make him good...
It is like asking what's better than used coffee grounds...who knows...I just throw them away

Lil Wayne is ok, he has the potential to do what the greats have done, but until he ACTUALLY DOES IT - I'm not going to say he's the greatest.

- How is Common "old school" when "Finding Forever" came out last year AND it's hott! That's not old school. (Old School = Big Daddy Kane, Roxanna Shatee', Kurtis Blow, MC Lyte, Hoodini, Busy Bee, KRS-One, Leaders of the New School, etc.) You need to get your hip-hop facts straight before you start talking. The ONLY accurate thing you said was that 50 ran out of style a long time ago.

- Also, Nas' new one is coming soon, and everytime Talib Kweli drops he changes the game! Stop it.

- Jay Z is still hott!! Have you heard American Gangster? That CD is one heck of a comeback after "Kingdom Come." Also, with all of the business deals and BIG money he's making, he doesn't need to rap - Wayne does. Which is why I said Lil' Wayne has the POTENTIAL to be that great, but he's got a long way to go.

EDIT: Thanks for the compliment. And yea... "Hello Brooklyn" IS hot, but Have you really listened to "I know" - The metaphors is that record are crazy! Jay hit it out the park with that one. Also, Wayne hasn't put out a solo record since the Carter 3 I think....I can't even remember when he had his OWN song. (I know it was waaay before American Gangster)Yes, he can be a great feature on a record, but you can't judge true skill based on features. That's why I say he's got potential, but I need to see more. The Jay-Z's, Talib Kweli's, Nas', and Common's in the industry have proven themselves.
Also, these "middle aged" rappers laid the foundation for the "Lil Wayne's" of the industry to even have a chance to shine making it almost impossible to talk about hip-hop w/o mentioning them.

Scarface
U.G.K (Pimp C & Bun B)
Lil KeKe
E-40
Juvenile

I don't dislike Lil' Wayne but he's no where near the best rapper out, unless your idea of top notch is mediocracy. Age has nothing to do with a person's ability 'cause Lil Mama couldn't touch MC Lyte, and Lyte is as ole skool as you can get. I'm not sure why female mc's are never in the running for "the greatest rapper". Ole skool music is still music and music is timeless. Just because a person came out before your time, doesn't eliminate them from being one of the best.

There is no best rapper of all rap because "the best" is based on opinion, which varies per person. But for the sake of argument.. Lupe Fiasco is far better than Lil' Wayne. Neither one of those dudes are in my top 5 though.
