Maybe they like your question but don't know how to answer it. You shouldn't answer a question just because you like it. You should answer because you know (or think you know) the answer.
I hate it when people answer, "I don't know," or "Wow, I've always wondered that too." No help.

I don't think so! Sometimes I star questions that interest me so I can go check them later on. I usually do that when it's a question I want to know the answer to or want to read what other people are saying.

There are times when I think someone has asked a very interesting question and deserves a star, however someone has given an excellent answer and leaves nothing for me to add.
I would then give a star plus a thumbs up to the good answer
