If people go on and on about things and nobody listens...why do they keep going?!

Because they only think of themselves,they are selfish,and just want to hear their own voices.They don't care about other peoples lives but themselves,and think the world revolves around them.
Maybe because they believe in those "things"? I think its good to believe in something even if others don't listen . Who cares??!!

Because they either think that if they keep going then maybe someone will start to listen, or they don't realize that no one is listening.

As the others have said. I have another theory though. I find a lot of times, they go on and on simply because 1) they cannot believe they are not the centre of attention and 2) they are firm believers in the 'baffle them with BS' school of thought.
Either way..I am only patient with that type person for so long. Then I either walk away..or set them straight. Sigh. I should learn to walk away more often.
