Answers: ny mother in law is a door greeter.
all she does is stand there.

to give old worthless people like her jobs.
God bless you, and walmart.

It 's a chance for an older person to do nothing and make some money.

I've never understood why they have them. To pass out stickers to kids?

They do it to employee senior citizens and handicapped ppl.

SteveC

to check receipts especially if the alarm goes off!

so they have a job for the elderly?

i thought it was just a job for old ppl who can't do as much. they just give me stickers....

that way the mentally challenged can have a job too.
its also so they can watch and see if you are bringing anything back in for return...then they get to put that little sticker on it.

to make you want to go in the store and for the person who greets to get easy 300$ a week!!!

They are there to say "Hello", check in 'returning' merchandise, give directions, answer simple questions, and to hand out carts to the shoppers.

what the heck itsnot for worthless people!! you shouldnt say that.

To greet the customers. Also to place stickers on return items and hand out smiley face stickers to the kids. It gives older people an opportunity to work and feel as if they are contributing to the economy. They are a lot of older people who would rather not sit home and collect social security. More power to them!!

It's exactly what the job title says...to greet people as they come in, and to check people's things to make sure they have stickers on them when they're returning them and to see why the alarm went off.

To give stickers to kids, to give out stickers for when you are returning stuff and to ask you if you want a cart....the people at the Wal-Marts where I am are cute old people and really nice.

Well, then she is NOT doing her job correctly. A door greeter actually greets customers and offers any assistance that they can. I , being a retired door greeter, offer this answer. She doesn't have to get some carts lined up? WOW...she may not last long. Offer her some advice to be friendly! ?

just to tell ppl where to go to find stuff and give ppl carts (well that was the old days) and give ppl stickers for there returns.

common courtesy.

Sometimes they hand out ads and just greet people. It is mainly to make people feel welcome and so they can keep an eye on things. They aren't really needed, but it just wouldn't be the same without them! A lot of times I see special needs people doing it. They may be earning a bit of cash or just volunteering. I think it's best when they give the special needs people the job, because they really might need the money.

"watmart"?

funny.

yes, it has occured to me, what a horrible job! And they are typically elderly or handicapped.

I think stores get some type of governement 'reward' for hiring the disadvantaged....I think this is why they do it.

to give handicapped and o[ld people jobs. all they have to do is check youre reiceipt

To give you stickers when you need to return stuff, And smile faces!
:) I love them!

It's all about customer service. It is believed that the sooner you are greeted, the better you'll feel about your shopping experience. They are supposed to make you feel welcome and special.

no disrespect to your mother in law but i'll stick by my answer. its just to show public that they are such a "caring" company that they hire the elderly and the handicap. think about it all that you see is people in wheelchairs and walkers. personally people with cerelibel palsy or arthritus trying to get a cart for me when i walk in makes me feel very uncomfortable.

It's yet another example of Walmart's commitment to be a good neighbor and prove its corporate responsibilities.

The reason they employ crusty old geezers is to remind Walmart customers that if they don't get some sort of education, save money, invest wisely, and throw all their money away on NASCAR garbage, velvet Elvis paintings, too big rims, rent, car payments,10k diamond-cut hollow jewelry, tattoos and piercings, and too many illegitimate babies, they'll end up working at a cruddy job when they should be at home baking cookies or traveling the world or damned near anything other than greeting trailer-dwelling schmucks who can't afford shopping at a quality establishment.
