Is Society nowadays "obsessed" with germs ?!

Question: I keep asking my kids to always wash hands, not to pick up and eat the cookies (dropped in my own clean house) etc, etc. I think, every parent give it's child those and other useful recommendations. I also do remember, my parents saying those things to me but never on a daily basis. Am I , as many others, freaking out over this and that and could this be a reason actually, why we all suffer of so many "allergies"????

It could be the reason we are suffering so many allergies. We aren't exposing ourselves to anything therefore our immunity to things are low. It's good for your kids to get sick once in a while and build antibodies. But it's also good to instill in them that it's not a good idea to eat of off random floors. And washing hands is never a bad thing.

yes you are a tad over reactive , no offence , kids need a germ now and again it keeps their immune system in good shape .. when you were a child did you ever drop a sweet on the ground then pick it up and eat it ... i did and i am sure my kids do as well ..

Probably..its been proven kids will be healthier if they are exposed to more germs at a young age...so its actually good to take your kid to day care. I believe they used farm kids as an example where they have less allergies from exposure to all the "crap" (no pun intended) they're around.

I think you're right on with this one. When I was a kid we spent most of our time outside getting stung by bees and shooting each other with BB guns! If you can survive a childhood like mine you never get sick as an adult. :)

hi it is yes a few germs as a child never hurt me but as for u well your a caring Mum it could yes we need to trust children

Maybe, unlike you I am a bad mother who always forgets to wash her children and encourages them to eat food off the floor because im too cheap to throw it away. I like to think that my shonky mothering skills are beneficial in some way in that they make my kids more immune to stuff, or something, idk.

Most people have to tolerance any longer....I have had this theory of yours for a long time...I remember drinking from the garden hose, brushing dirt off a cookie that fell in my sand pile, and not so concerned with every little germ....But Clo my kids run barefoot in the yard and garden....and get really dirty...and I just clean them up after a long day of play....I have had people (my Mom) tell me I shouldn't let them get that dirty...I think it is healthy myself...and eventhough the boys have been sick...this winter...I still hold to this theory...Once they start getting dirty again...they seem to be doing better...
Peace.

Nahhh .... Don't pet the sweaty stuff. You're a mom and that's what mom's do. The reason we suffer from allergies to many processed foods, to many antibiotics, to many hypochondriacs, to many coal burning plants, and the beat goes on and on and on and on.
