Tulips or daffodils?!
Question: Daffodils. Another word for them is Narcissus. This comes from a Greek legend of Narcissus and Echo
Echo was a wood nymph who fell in love with a young beautiful boy named Narcissus. Many liked him, but he would always feel as if he was too good for everyone else and loved no one.
Juno the goddess took away Echo's voice who could then only talk what was spoken back at the person. One day Narcissus was walking in the woods and heard footsteps. He exclaimed "Who's here??" and Echo replied "Here!" He called "Come" and she would reply "Come!" When she came out however, Narcissus had rejected her and in her grief Echo died becoming part of a mountain and all remained is her voice.
Greek Gods grew tired of his behavior and caused him to fall in love with someone who could not love him back- his reflection. He could not recognize himself in the water and thought it was a water spirit. He would gaze at the water all day in love with himself. He would not step away from the pool and died right there. In his place a beautiful flower grew.
What a great story for such a beautiful flower!
