Mine has and I took it as insult. He shouldn't be bringing my mum into any of our arguemants and that should be respected.
It all depends on what type of person the mother is. My mom is a doll, and I would take it as a compliment. But I wouldn't take it to heart... doesn't everyone yell something they don't mean just to shut the other person up, and so they feel like they got the last word in??
