x
50p.
I still don't get pocket money. Whatever I find around the house will suffice :P
I probably used to get about 50p from my parents which gradually increased as the years went by.
However, I used to get £1.00 from my gran every week without fail until I was about 25!
Yikes, my folks NEVER gave us "pocket" money, nor an allowance !!
From birth to 6 they put aside 25 cents a week and deposited it in a savings account in each kids name.
From 6 to 18 you earned money buy doing WORK (not chores) and getting paid. You didn't get CASH either... Dad would write it down in a note-book. For example: 2/12/76, lawn mowing, 0.50+, total $23.75. Dad ALSO inspected your work... if you were sloppy you didn't get "paid" until you corrected the errors.
When I was 18, lawn mowing grew to a full DOLLAR !!
IF you wanted money, you asked for it and it was subtracted from your account. You ALSO had to explain the need, and listen to a lecture about upcoming expenses (Mom's Birthday, Christmas, etc).
Kids NEED to equate money with WORK, and NOT live on credit !! Just FYI, from 16-18 I also had "real" part-time jobs, and my savings at 18 was $25,000+
I do the same with my daughters.
