Why do think???!

Question: Let me start out by saying I have black friends,

But why do all the black people think we owe them so much?
Sure 200 years ago white people made the black people slaves, but that was 200 years ago!!!

WE didnt make them slaves in this day in time. That would never happen again!

You dont hear Jewish people freaking out all the time over what happened to them. And they are both just as bad!

Dont get me wrong what happened to both was wrong and should have never happened. but we should have to walk on egg shells around black people.

What is you take on this?

Oh, I could'nt agree more. I have black friends too. Absolutely adorable and warm people. However the other day I was in the toilets in work and after washing my hands, I went to the dryer to Dry. Before I knew it, this Black girl came out of a cubicle and said, "Do you mind, I'm trying to have a conversation here" while holding her mobile phone to her ear. I took hands out of dryer and just left. Afterwards I thought to myself you eejit, why did you let her speak to you like that. But you are afraid that if you speak up then they will bring out the Racist remarks. We can't win. By the way there are alot of really decent people that I do get on with in work and I think in general they are a very happy go lucky race. But yes, we walk on egg-shells when around them. Sasha

ummmm all i know is it was more like 100 yrs

strap on your armor, i have a feeling your starting a war..... the best of luck, though. ^-^

Never use the word "ALL"
When youre talking about a group of people

I Don't Know... None Of My Friends Have Ever Been Like That...x Anyway I Agree With You... Ummm... What Was I Gonna Say... ... ... ... OH YEAH... lol =] TW0 P0iiNT5 T3WW M3...! =0.o= =D

I know what you mean! It was bad to them all!
But there are rascists all over and they just assume we are one of them! I have no problem with black people!
I also don't get why they can call us "white girls" and stuff like that, but as soon as you say "black people" they are about to beat you up.
Maybe it is like what I said about them thinking that we are all racists, because I sure am not!

They think we are all racists, so therefore they call us everything that's just as bad. No other culture/race is considered racist more than white people. Yeah it did happen 200 hundred years ago, so therefore, it didn't happen to them, and they really need to realize most white people don't think that way anymore. I think it's just because they know they can get away with it, and white people can't say anything for fear of being called racist.

Well its not all african americans, its some. I dont know why some of them act so mean out of know where. They just give you attitude and they dont even know you. They act like if they own everything, what the hell??? But some african-americans are awesome, to be with! I have some african american friends, man they are awesome to hang out with, and well there real good listeners too.

I concur. Also jewish people don't have there own made up language like ebonics. I mean if you are born in american, you are american, not african american or mexican american, Just plain old American.

Its just something that grandparents and some parents put into young AA minds. I personally dont think we're owed anything. Not for our generation. But I get so upset when I learn about all my people did to get fair rights and to be able to go to school etc. PEOPLE DIED FOR THE RIGHT.! Thats why I push myself the hardest and strive to be the best. Because my parents and grandparents gave up way too much for me to be a failure. Some people dont have the same luck I do. They have parents and grandparents who do nothing but sit around a blam all their troubles on the white man. So thats what the kid grows up thinking blame it on the white man. Instead of teaching people to blame it on the white men they should teach them how to make something of themselves.

Wow I sure feel better! Thanks for posting this

Ignore ignorant, racist ppl no matter what the cultural backround is

Oh my.

I think they just use it as an excuse for special treatment.
If you yell at someone whos black, instead of yelling back they can just say; "Your only saying that because I'm black."

And, not all black people do it. But some of them do.
People need to realize, WE WERE NOT THE ONES TO MAKE THEM SLAVES.
We can't help what happened in the PAST. This present and some people need to realize that.

You have to think, who made them free?
A white guy!

And also, they weren't the ones to be slaves.

So I think some of them need to chill with thinking that we owe them.

<3

My take is, I have never owned any slaves.
It was commonplace as well back in those times to have indentured servants who were of white, European descent; not only Africans. And let us not forget that it was other Africans who actually carried out the transactions in which they sold their countrymen to the Europeans in exchange for various 'riches'. Our ancestors are all somewhat to blame for the mistreatment of those people, as well as for the atrocities exacted on the natives of North and South America, and other peoples.
Having said all this, however, I do not believe we (meaning this generation) actually owe them anything. I don't dislike Italian folks for what their Roman ancestors did to the tribes they encountered upon invading the British Isles. They were right awful in many cases from what I understand but I don't think they owe me any reparations.

I have friends of different cultures. My friends who happen to be black Americans and African Americans have not once ever made me feel like I owe them anything. They have only treated me with love and respect, just as I have treated them.

Now, my African American friends: Some have a hard time with black Americans calling themselves "African" American. In their minds the African heritage is lost and black people are American, not African. They feel the African heritage is lost.

As for my black American friends: Believe it or not we've never discussed slavery before. I think our generation (20-somethings) is beyond all that "let's dig up the oppression of the past" and instead focus on the here and now. No point in beating a dead horse. What happened was terrible but that was in the past. Let's move on and try to make this world a better place.

Now, many of my friends: Black, White, Hispanic, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Jewish, Atheist, Gay, Straight, Christian, Catholic, Agnostic, Baptist, Gnostic....etc...etc...etc. have been picked on at one time or another in their lives because they seemed different to someone else. Same with me. I've gotten picked on (still do, oh well) because I am different. I think that it definitely goes beyond race. People do not like change and do not always open difference with open arms.

Yet I digress. It is a HUGE assumption on anyone's part that every single black person in this country comes from a family of slaves. At the same time it is a HUGE assumption on anyone's part that every white person in this country comes from a family of slave traders, plantation owners who had slaves, or the racial groups which often lynched other races.

If people really took the time to trace their lineage beyond skin color I think they would be surprised, less shallow and certainly more educated.

What if I told you I came from a family of Italian immigrants and when they made it to Staten Island there were black people with rocks and glass bottles throwing them at the people and spitting on them, shouting insults? Would I then be able to say that all black people owe me? Certainly not, it happened to relatives and not me personally. If they have overcome then so can I. They did not let the oppression stop them for making better lives for themselves, they just kept on going. I think that is an example we can all learn from.
