Should I tell my boss I'm looking for a new job?!

Question: Here's the skinny,
My office consists of 4 people, I don't do anything all day except answer the phones. I get paid about 10 dollars and I barely get by.
My mother recently got diagnosed with breast cancer and due to cut back lost her job.
I need to make more and my boss is aware of my sititation.
I have to interview and I don't want to lie unless I have too.
I think he will be sad but understanding what do you think?

You know your boss better than any of us do. If you are VERY sure he'll understand about you looking for other jobs then tell him. Maybe he can help you find something or at least give you a good recommendation.

But if you think telling him could possibly screw things up for you in any way then maybe it is better to wait before telling him. But be careful. These other places may call your current boss to ask about you so if you have not told him, he may get sore that you are going behind his back without saying anything.

You ultimately have to decide which way is the best way for you to go. Good luck...

yes

I wouldn't tell him before you had the new JOB and then POP it on him

So long as he doesn't give you the boot before you find a new position then yes, be honest and tell him your situation and why you have to take this course of action. Good luck :-)

Break it to your boss very kindly by just letting him/her know that you will start looking for another job (for whatever the reason are that you can come up with). Once you are accepted at the new job... make sure to let your boss know ASAP so by this time they can already hopefully have a replacement in mind or already hired.

No, just quit at the last minute

It's really none of his business. I would secure my new job first and then just give 2 weeks notice. He'll understand if he knows your situation.

tell him what you just said

If He is aware of the situation, there Shouldn't be a problem...!!

Well ask for a raise...$10 is very poor... your getting underpaid... tell him you have a interview... and if thats got more money then your gonna take it... the onyl way your staying ther eis if he pays you more... he knows your situation so he should be understanding... if his not... well... tell him where to go...

If he's understanding the definitely tell him. I had to leave a job where I was barely getting paid (even though I loved it) because of health issues & I knew my bills were going to sky rocket & my boss understood & said that I could come back & was glad that I told him so that he could find a replacement
