a boob or booby is a foolish or stupid person so they step up traps to catch these people that are stupid enough to fall for them.
because the word boob is also used to mean someone who is stupid ( which is a shame because mine are rated on the genius level...LOL) so they called it a booby trap becuase it was supose to catch the person off guard and make them look like a boob. which is allso why they used to call T.V. the boob tube, becuase it makes people stupid ( or whatever...haha) although now it could be called that because it's full of the boobs...lol.
