Poll..If you were a wildlife photographer could you do this?!

Question: If you were to get a job as a wildlife photographer and were sent on an interesting assignment to film in the wild and part of your remit was to film an animal (elephant for example) that was only an infant and was dying of thirst could you film it as it clawed pityfully at the ground in search of water and drew it`s last desperate breaths of life all on it`s own and crying out for help,, or would you risk losing your job and step in to save it?

Wow, kinda graphic there with the description!

I was going to say that I'd leave it there, but thinking about it now, this is a question that can't rightly be answered by me.
This is more a philosophical dilemma now.

As heart-wrenching as it may be to witness the event, it happened without your interference and life needs to take it's course as nature intended and the calf (is that right?) would have to be left alone. You are an outside observer of life as it is taking place, even if it is a tragic moment. Death is part of life after all.

But on the other hand, being there to witness the baby elephant dying of thirst, you would also have a moral obligation to step in and help it however you could. You have the free choice to step out from behind the camera to affect life directly with your intervention.

I think it's all down to the person you are in the end.

Do you swat the fly, or open a window and let it fly out?

lose my job for sure

risk loosing my job. thats why im not going to ever do the job cause i know i will loose it anyways

I would lose my job...definitely.

Save it. In my book it would be morally wrong to go for the "money shot" if I could save it.

Nature v nurture
I would step in and save a life.

I'd never be able to watch it die of thirst if I was physically able to help it, I'd do everything I could to try and save it.

i would lose my job and help them

i would risk my job or rather quit for getting such an assignment..... who would want that... poor baby elephant

looks like I'm going back to the shoe shop

I could leave it there.

If it cant find water for its self that means there is not much water around.
what i have with me will not be enough to save it, and it is most likely not able to be transported any where so even if i wanted to i couldn't

I couldn't just stand by and watch anything suffer. I'd loose my job and help it.

It's only a job, I'm sure the bosses would understand in the end.
There are plenty more baby elephants to photograph around the world - so far.

I'd say I couldn't find anything like that to take pictures of and save it. Then I'd take a picture of it after I saved it.

I'd let it die, my job is film nature in its raw state, if I wasn't there filming, the elelphant would die, so the fact that I am there should make no difference. If you're going to interfere, go and film in a zoo.

The job sounds shite anyway, I'd help the elephant, form a bond with it, then when it grows up I'd strap big f*ck off lazer cannons on it's back and we'd travel the world together killing everybody involved in sacking me. Then we'd get ice-cream.

Yes, though would I have enough Water on me? Hopefully

Same Q's: How many of us would risk loosing our Job If it was a Rodent, who needed water, or would we just say we can't interfere with Nature,

save the job with a photo of an elephant drinking the water... and how life is back to his eyes and body..

Step in and save. Stuff the job.

you cant contractly but personally id want to

I'd risk loosing my job to help it definitely

I'd definately lose my job. I wouldn't be able to stand by to see an animal suffer.

Hi i couldnt no i would have to try and save It I love Animals Hugs

Step into save it Happy but also draw to the world the plight of these animals !

Welcome P45.

sorry id be in tears and i would just have to interfere with nature and help this small creature so it has its time on earth, i guess id lose my job, but if i were so good as the firm that hired me, it would not bother me, in the least.

I would help it.

Aww I would definitely try and step in to save the poor little thing - if I got fired, then so be it, but I would want to make every effort to save its life! xxx

I would lose the job with no hesitation at all...........

Cruel as it may sound, I'll let nature takes it's course. I'm a photograper not a naturalist or zoologist. I wouldn't know how to save it.

It's part & parcel of life in the wild. But that image will burned into my mind forever,,,,,

I can't bear to see any animal suffer. I would lose my job and risk my life to do what I could to save it. Jobs aren't worth having if all you do is stand by and watch someone or something suffer and die.
