I suspect it had its origin in the south. I'm from south Texas and although I've been in almost all of the contiguous 48 states I don't recall of ever hearing it in the north country. But considering our ever increasing mobility I'm sure it will eventually melt into the mainstream along with all of those colloquial words and quaint accents that help to make us who we are. I guess I'm making a big fuss over nothing.
