The Catcher in The Rye by JD Salinger (It inspired my avatar name!) Its about a boy growing up and realizing that adults don't have all the answers. He realizes they are either fake or as clueless as everyone else. I read that book 16 years ago and its had such an impact on my life. I refuse to "sell out", be fake or surround myself with people like that. Its just an amazing, powerful short little book and I wouldn't be "me" if my brother didn't give it to me for my 16th birthday.
