6 and it was half a mile

That's nothing I had to walk 10 miles,and I was only a fetus.

About the same, but most days my brother walked with me on his way to work, which was good because he'd take me in the sweet shop!

I was 8 and it was 2 miles....I got kicked off the bus becasue they were racist

12 half. :)

I was 6, it was probably a 10 minute walk but I lived in army quarters at the time & went to the school next to the barracks. they had soldiers posted along the way so the kids all got to school safe.

6 to first grade, and when I was that small, I was unsure of the distance. It seemed very far, and rain, snow, or shine I was forced to walk each day!!!!

9 years old i think.!!

I live too far away to walk..I have to ride the bus. Sorry..but I've had to ride the bus since about the same time as you had to first walk yourself to school.

i would have been about 7 or 8.. it wasnt to far away though.
It was when my been had torn legiments in her leg. She had no one to take me n my younger brother to school so we walked he would have been about 5 though.

5, because the school was across the street and i've always been independent

rode my bike at 10, never walked

Ya I lived in Ireland when it was safe to let your kids close the front door of your house and I used to cycle the 1 mile to school from about 6. I was a lazy sod and would refuse to go on my legs more than 1/2 a mile anywhere.
