I have come to learn that the sharper one's wit is the more it will cut others. Rudeness is not gaged by intent, nor intent by rudeness. the fact is that smart people tend to be coarser than most because "like diamond they are shaped by their own dust."

i have been called rude, but sadly never intelligent, so i guess not
...personally, I think rudeness is devised to try and hide a lack of intelligence...
an intelligent person will never be rude. if he is, then he is stupid and not intelligent. lol
It could be a sign of someone thinking they are more intelligent. You don't need to be intelligent to be rude.
You may in fact need it to avoid being rude.
Empathy requires intelligents, with empathy you are less
likely to be rude. Intellectual snobbery!
