It's not so much as the size to me, it's more about the juicy firmness and flavor.
It should be firm, with a natural casing(no plastic), and smell good. Size can vary, but, ideal is 6-7 inches.You have to remember that if you are putting it in something(a bun), it has to fit. Too small, you'd need 2; and that's just wrong.
Fat and short...gets the job done....
It has to be Italian......and more than a mouth full
