Controversial question?!
Question: my brother is in debate class and needs a controversial topic. we thought of the basic ones like abortions, death penalty, the war, but he said that all of that would be covered (a few times) so i told him about yahoo answers and a big controversial subject is children being spanked.
so my question is are you for or against spanking children?
(he needs to get 100 peolpe to "vote")
im not saying this to be mean but i was just looking for a yes or no and maybe a small reason why but please no cut and paste googled answer. please

Against. It teaches kids that violence is the way to handle problems. We find other ways to deal with our spouse's without hitting them....why not our kids?

spanking children is good for kids. as long as its on the butt, and you dont hurt them (permanently). it sure put the fear in me....respect and fear is totally different, and fear is all you achieve by spanking, but that can be a good thing.
I say yes as long as it is not beating the kid.

Spanking is lame and violent.
It shows that the adult either doesn't have the capacity or the patience to reason and interact with their child in a meaningful and constructive way. In other words--it's taking the (abusive) easy way out.
Yes, but only in the instance that child did something that was dangerous. Overuse of spankings desensitizes a child to it, then it is pointless.
