Question: Employee who bad at her job had kid at end of September 2006. Returned to work afterwards. Left at end of March, supposedly to stay at home with her kid. Is she really leaving voluntarily, or using the reason to stay at home with the kid as a coverup for being fired or asked to resign?

i'm guessing voluntarily....
some people have a really hard time going back to work after having kids, sometimes they go back becuz they think financially they have to, and after paying daycare for awhile, recognize they aren't gaining much. Or their spouses get a big enough promotion to cover her being out of work. It's hard to tell. I'm not sure why you find it so hard to believe, i've considered it often, and if my significant other were fortunate to get a big enough promotion to support us, I'd quit in a heartbeat.

no sounds like she is being a responisble parent. how can you judge if you dont know her at home situation
