POLL: Do you know how to deal with loss? Yes or No.?!

Question: Thanks from Lisa C.

Answers: Thanks from Lisa C.

For me,.. my mom passed away Jan. 2004, I'm not over it yet, I want her back and that isn't going to happen, went through a divorce after 31 years, he cheated, I'm still in pain, but every day is a new day.

no .. because i havent had to deal with that yet

No..=/

But then again, what kind of loss are you talking about?

Yes. I had to deal with it my whole life ever since I can remember. My first loss experience happened when my brother died when I was 3. From now on when someone close to me dies, I never cry over it. I just say to my self, "it's life" and I go on. I know that sounds harsh but that's just me. I guess the death of my brother traumatized me in such a way that I can no longer express grief. People think that I'm selfish because I don't express grief, but that's not true.

i've had some practice

yes

Yes I do, but have not experienced much.

If you mean loss of life, then no not really. I don't think anyone does really and everyone deals with it differently - some better than others. I recently lost my great-grandmother (we were not extremely close) but i did find it hard at first especially for my grandmother, who was naturally distraught. I have never lost anyone who means a great deal to me e.g. grandparent, parent etc. I tend to deal with it by bottling up my emotions and putting on an act but then crying at night. I suppose it is sad really, but you just want to appear strong for other people. The day of my great-grans funeral was also the day of my great-aunts funeral and that was tough, two funerals on the same day :(

:)

Both yes and no:

*It really hurt when my younger brother passed away about 15 yrs. ago.

**I had no idea just how much, until about five years later.

*After my (ex)wife broke up the band about two years ago, I was devastated ...

**13 yrs. of marriage **Two kids

**But this time, I just got more involved with my Church, prayed, and got back into the martial arts.

**The kids have been with me for about a year, now, and I spar in martial arts tournaments (nothing extreme, just "old-dude" division point-sparring ...) once every month.

**The Church and the martial arts have helped me to wade through this pond of dog-poop with some dignity, and to also become a much better father to my two kids.

I hope that you're doin' okay.

Please have a nice weekend.

(;=]
