Whats the difference between a Street, Avenue, and Boulevard??!
Question: Streets run north and south
Avenues run east and west
Boulevards Dead end
Answers: Streets run north and south
Avenues run east and west
Boulevards Dead end
I thought a boulevard had to have a median in the middle
street: lined with buildings on both sides
avenue: trees and/or shops
boulevard: one side faces a body of water (like a beach, a dock, piers stuff like that)
In Big cities, especially, whatever they feel like calling it:
Streets, Roads. Drives, Avenues, Ways, Circle, Place, Boulevards, Highways; they is no set Reason....!!
They're spelled differently!
I don't know about any of the definitions that people offered. :-) All I know is that a boulevard is supposed to have an island (aka median) running down the middle of it that separates the two directions of traffic. Other than that I think the are all the same (although may have specific meanings in other languages like French.
-A Street it is designed for two currents of traffic: One Going and the Other Coming Back next to the other in opposite direction. This is for a Minimum flow of traffic.
-An Avenue is designed for a heavy load of traffic: Either Two sides for each side -or- a Very Wide side for each side.
-A Boulevard it is designed for the flowing of Heavy to Massive Flow of traffic: Two To Three Sides for each side -or- the equal space with Two Very Wide Sides for each side.
