I would confront them and try to find out the truth and the reason for the lying. Then I would decide where to go from there..
Depends on the lie obviously... but every lie ruins trust, and thats a very hard thing to fix, and sometimes I think not possible at all.
I'm not sure what you are asking, but I don't have a problem confronting someone, especially my partner if I thought he was lying. Actually I am unable to control myself, so he just better hope we aren't in the middle of the grocery store or something when I find out.
I wish I could control it better and wait until the best time before saying something, but I can't.
