Sorry, but I have to still say socks. Only socks. And here's something for you to think about - because I can not for the life of me figure this out. Knowing a sock or two went missing after every wash, I decided to test the theory a couple of years ago (I have a weird way of thinking) and counted out a few pairs of socks and put them in the washing machine - it was a top loader - and turned it on. When the washing was done, I carefully removed the items and THERE WAS A SOCK MISSING! I sh!t you not, there was one missing. I even went as far as to dismantle the machine and see if it had somehow been swallowed (somehow) and ended up benieth the aggitator, but not there.
