How are the average families able to pay the high cost of funerals?!

Question: Thats a good question!

A better question is: What do they do with the people who cannot afford to save any money.. living paycheck to paycheck, with their bodies after death? Do we get thrown in a hole with a bunch of others and buried?

Heaven help us!!! jeeeeeeeshhhh

they stick them in a hole

life insurance

They um ... get money, and pay for it.

life insurance, cremation is much less expensive

we bury them in our back yards . lol

they usually get death insurance, its actually quite cheap for younger people

Well, I when my husband passed away and I didn't have any money. The funeral home had a finance plan, but they don't advertise it. $6,000. And he told me they don't usually do that. But, it was kinda funny how he had all the paperwork handy for not normally doing that. He made it sound like it was just for me!

Anyway, I didn't have any insurance or any money. Most people have insurance for any kind for an unexpected death. Ans id they don't then they need to get it. It's not really that much a month, sometimes as low as $12.00 a month. Also cremation is a lot cheaper, some people use that on their loved ones!

Also, they took someones car title for collateral on their mom's funeral and her house deed. They wanted to make sure they would pay for it! Her kids were grown and didn't live in the same town as her.

Insurance.

monthly payments

They have Insurance policys and in some cases a person who wants to can prepay for there funeral ... I have seen a rise in people opting not to have a funeral or viewing. And Cremation is less expensive.

Often that's one of the things the deceased person's life insurance pays for.

Most funeral homes will work out payment plans. They'll also help families trim costs if that's what's needed.

State law determines some of what's required for burial, but the casket can be extremely expensive or fairly cheap. Cremation costs less than burial.

It is completely ridiculious at the cost of a funeral. A wooden box and a hole is all you need. My grandmother is 99 and picked her coffin a few years ago. They were showing her satin pillows, satin lining, chrome and brass handles, etc. She was so funny about it. She told the funeral director that she doesn't need her head to be on an expensive pillow. She just wants her hair to look nice. And it doesn't matter to her what the inside of the coffin looks like because she'll never see it. Go grandma!!!

I think her coffin ended up being $4000, she already has a burial plot, next to grandpa. The digging of the hole will cost $800 and a headstone is $1200. The church charges $100 but will take less for it's services., candles, pall bearers.
