What you think 30 seconds to mars is trying to say in theyr songs?!

Question: Most of the songs seem to have the common theme of forgetting your past.. but not in the sense of getting over it.. but more in the sense of creating a totally new version of yourself.

So I run, hide and tear myself up
Start again with a brand new name
And eyes that see into infinity (infinite possibilities of who i could pretend to be?)

This is the story of my life
These are the lies I have created

A photograph of you and I
Your reflection I've erased

Until you change, until you deny
Until you believe

A revolution has begun today for me inside
The ultimate defense is to pretend
...To lose it all you have to do is lie

Some of the songs contain some sort of reference to the fact that life has become an automated process, that we just do what others expect, that we all fallow some sort of rigid pattern. The message perhaps is that instead we should break free... pass the limits?

I am a machine
No longer living, just a shell of what I dreamed.

"Savior", although it contains negative connotations, revolves around the same idea.. let me experience everything that I, can even if it's bad for me.. "don't save me".

In my opinion, although you may disagree, is that 20 seconds to mars is just another commercial band. They want to appeal to a certain target of people, which they manage successfully, but their song don't really have an essence. The lyrics are short and highly repetitive, therefore easy to remember; the anger appeals to the "rebellious" teenagers, to those that what to be different and perhaps to those that are trying to find out who they are... There were many bands like them before, there are many to come.. but for now.. they are just enjoying their "15 mins of fame"

that they misjudged the distance from earth to mars?

sorry, but i dont listen to them enough to know.

crack is wack

that they're emo and they suck......

i don't think they're emo.. but some bands just got no meaning, so who cares?

Depends what song and on how the listener interprets them. I like to think it's about three things- accepting your own oddities, being yourself, and forgetting the past~

"It's a beautiful lie
It's the perfect denial
Such a beautiful lie to believe in
So beautiful, beautiful it makes me"

"A revolution has begun today for me inside
The ultimate defense is to pretend
Revolve around yourself just like an ordinary man
The only other option is to forget
Does it feel like we've never been alive?
Does it seem like it's only just begun?
To find yourself just look inside the wreckage of your past
To lose it all you have to do is lie"

"I open up my head
Inside I find another person's mind
I'm gonna take this chance I've got
I'm underlying as we speak
Hiding my face among the weak
Some say the day is on the way
Into the wild"

etc...
