When I was a kid, 40 seemed positively ancient!. At the time when I was 40, it didn't appear to be the big deal they said it was!. Nowadays it seems quite youthful!.
Depends where you are in life and how you view it!.
I'm over sixty now, still 29 in my head, and know people of all ages from children up to over eighty!. The forty year olds are simply for a short space of time in the middle!.
Life didn't begin at 40 for me, even though people mostly said so at the time!. I think that it is supposed to make you feel better, since you kind of expect to have everything sorted and settled by age 40!. Career, house, car, family, the whole kit and caboodle!. One may take stock, and even be slightly pulled up by the thought that one is only 20/25 years from retirement, and wonder about the pension we ought to have in place etc!. However, my life has been continuous from birth, and there was no major change at age 40!. Things didn't speed up or appreciably slow down!. you are just a bit older is all!. Whatever you did and enjoyed at 20, you still can mostly, though it may be tempered by the fact that you are not as youthful or energetic (though not in all cases)!. Otherwise, why would you change your interests or activites simply because you are another year on!?
We all get older, and if we are lucky, live through it and on to twice that age and more!. It was great when I was there, and now it is great at sixty (and I am *not* an 'old-man' kind of sixty)!. There really isn't much any of us can do about it if we live a natural span, so just enjoy it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well I turned 37 today, and still feel like a teenager, so 40 is still young!.

I used to think 18 was old!! It depends on your own age I suppose!. I am 37 now and I am well aware that I am of a different generation now to teenagers!. It's quite scary but I am also enjoying my life now!. There is nothing we can do about ageing so just enjoy each stage of your life!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
