The birth of a child is always an occasion to celebrate for the family, and people do it in different ways!. Muslims in western India have been following a freaky ritual for more than five hundred years!.
They throw their infant off a 15-meter high (nearly 50 feet) tower with the intention of making them stronger and healthier!. Of course there are group of people waiting down holding a white piece of cloth where the babies are dropped!. The baby bounces once on the cloth and the baby is then caught before the second bounce!.
This ritual is carried out at a shrine in Solapur, a small town in Maharashtra!. The faithful believe that it will make their children strong and the organisers claim that no accidents have occurred till date!.

I am an Indian by descent, living in the States!. I am a Muslim too!. My parents are from Western India!. I asked my parents about this!. I will tell you the truth!. He said it was on the news (Indian channel), but he hadn't heard of it before until about two days ago!.
People do indeed have weird rituals and practices!. But "me!" said that they are lazy!. What response!. Laziness!? Let me assure you that there is a lot of work that goes into coming up with a plan to execute this technique of theirs!. But then again, have YOU seen them!? Laziness!!. Yeah, because they just leave their kids out on the streets as soon as they're 5, right!?!?

My grandmother is muslim and I asked her about this!. She says it's the biggest lie she's ever heard!. She, nor any of my family would EVER Do that!.

I say, throw the town elder and let them be caught, and or throw the MOM or DAD that are agreeing to do such crazy things!. To think the kids are helpless and the first thing they have to worry about is being thrown from a building!Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's one of those stupid traditions that all stems from the root of lazyness!. Yes, laziness!. Parents just want to bless and pray and do weird rituals hopign there kids will turn out good!. They have to nurture there kids for them to grow up well, sheesh!Www@Enter-QA@Com
