Artist: Mellencamp, John Cougar
Song: Cherry Bomb

He wrote this song about his life in high school, which was 1964-1968!. He mentions being 17, which he was in 1968!.

About 1967, was when pot smoking became much more widespread and popular!. Before that if someone mentioned a smoke it was pretty sure to be tobacco!. Same with groovin', before that it was done naturally, after, it was likely to mean you were tripping!. I suppose the holding hands is a metaphor for relationships being taken more seriously as opposed to the sexual revolution and "free love"!.

It's Club Cherry Bomb!. I don't know anything about fireworks, but at that time a cherry bomb was a relatively powerful and popular one, and it looked like a cherry!. IDK if the club in the song got it's name from that, maybe!.

I had to wait 'til gramps woke up from his nap, to get all these details from him!. Interesting!. That was his heyday!. ? ? Ψψ
