Which Is Better? British or American Humour?!

Question: Which Is Better!? British or American Humour!?
I am a big fan of British humour, more so than American!. Which do you prefer and give some shows or comedians as examples, please! Do not just say British or American!. Thanks!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
BRITISH
A bit of Fry and Laurie
Black Books
Blackadder
Monty Python
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams)
Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran, Jimmy Carr!.!.!. I mean!.!.!. The Americans just can't compare!
(also: i am not british or american, so not unduley biased :P )Www@Enter-QA@Com

Both have their standouts!. British humor is more oddball and wacky - which I appreciate!. I grew up on Monty Python and I can't imagine a funnier comedian than Eddie Izzard!. I also prefer British comedies over the American blockbuster type films (things like Waking Ned Devine)!. But some Americans can be damn funny!. I still love George Carlin and Lewis Black and I miss Mitch Hedberg!. There's a biting, angry quality about some of the American comics that's very funny!.
Overall, I'd have to say the Brits are funnier!. I don't get the "I can't understand them" criticism!.!. but maybe that's because there was a constant stream of PBS during my childhood!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

BBC Radio 'humour' is dismal, I don't think they have turned out anything worth listening to in 20 years, since 'Hitchiker's Guide'!.

There are some very good TV series which come from a very small pool of writers, but they have a large number of imitators who are no good at all!.

The US mainstream TV shows are blunt and tired, but when they do put resources into a show they can come up with real quality - the US versions of 'The Office' were very well done indeed!. also, there have been some brilliant off-beat shows, one or two of which have thankfully grown to be world beaters, like Southpark, or Beavis and Butthead (much under rated)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The best answer to this question is to look at how many Brit comedies have been adapted (read 'stolen') for the
American market!. Yanks would probably be really surprised at how many of their sitcoms started in the UK; at least in the 80s - 90s, maybe not so common now, but the Office is a good example!.

Brit humour can get away with so much more double entendres, by a long way, and so by my (Brit) sense of humour that makes it far superior!.

Men Behaving Badly, Black Books, Absolutely Fabulous, Mighty Boosh, Monty Python, all heroes of Brit comedy!.

On the other side of the Atlantic, gotta say that Cheers, Frasier and Friends really do it too!.

But the original Office is way better!. Not just being patriotic, I genuinely think the Brits have it!. So many US sitcoms are so totally full of sh*te!. Have you seen The Nanny!?!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well it depends on the people!. The british speak old english and its sometimes hard for us americans to understand!. In the good place british people are physically funny like mr!. bean!. American people like rude humor or dirty jokes!. Not a very clean u!.s!.a but we like it!. It brings comedy to an extreme here in the u!.s!. Erm i suppose you cant really decide!. If your more of the type not to curse and stuff you would like british humor more!. If your more of the sexual kind of humorous type then american humor is ok for you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it depends, British humor you normally have to think about, but American humor is great when your to lazy to think, so after a long day at work nothing beats a good American comedy!.!.!.!.but after a good night sleep BRING ON THE BRITISH BABY!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I like both but our British comedians are unbeatable!.
Here's some links, I love Lee Evan's he has me in fits of laughter with his hilarity!.

I dont understand british humor!. I go to a british school in switzerland but am totally lost most of the time!. Probably just because i grew up in America!. Neither is supior though, theyre just different and symbolize different cultures!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Oh definitely, definitely british! They are more creative with humor, Americans are more obvious!.
Don't misunderstand me, I love american comedies too!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I hate British comedy!. And it's not because I don't "get it!." I'm all for sophisticated humor that makes you think but even then I don't think it is funny!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Neither!. Australian humour is the best!. So dry and sarcastic! But I have to admit that the Brits have Monty Python and that is damn funny!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Im an American, so I seem to enjoy American humor more!. I get British humor, but it doesnt make me laugh!. Monthy Python is obnoxiously annoying!.
I love Brits though!Www@Enter-QA@Com
