Question: If you have a friend who is a heavy smoker & he coughs a great deal, how do u handle it when he doesn't care!?
30 year long time buddy!. Smokes heavy and coughs a huge amount of the time!. He is not sick, just coughs!. I tried lightly talking about it, no dice!. He is intelligent and knows smoking is ruining his health!.
What I am looking for is how do I deal with his constant hacking!. I have a hard time letting go!.
He is free to do what he wants without interference from me, and I am supporting him in his freedom because we are friends plus I am not an azz!. I just wish I knew a way to turn off my feelings when he hacks so loudly!.
So my question here is half rant and half pleading!. I can not change him, nor am I am nag!. I just wish I knew of a way to stop giving a sh!t!.

That's a tough one Moe, I'm afraid you can't turn off your feelings!. Just try & accept that it's his choice!. He is sadly addicted, & most likely unable to imagine life without smoking!. Ask anyone who used to smoke & quit!.!.!.it's the toughest thing to quit!. I used to smoke & so I can say that!. He may say he knows what it's doing to him but until the doctor tells him in the ER someday it may not be sinking in!. Just be his friend & be there when he needs you!. first did u tell him if he doesnt go to a doctor he could die from lung cancer!?or if his lucky he will hav to wear one of those thorat boxes,n many ladies dont think thats to cut,i had a 25year old cousin who died from lung cancer cause she wouldnt go to the doctor,she would hwack n cough just like u say ure friend does,but sometimes like u say they wont listen till its to late n there n a cold grave,,all u can do to pray for him at this point n hope someday he wakes up n says hey im going to the doc cause i want to live!.!.my sweet beautifull cousin didnt,good luck,n i hope ure having a beautifull day n ill!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
