Question about the death penalty?!

Question: Question about the death penalty!?
This is a question for supporters of the death penalty in the U!.S!. It's really a question and it's not meant to bash Americans!.!.!.

In all the democratic countries of the world except for the U!.S!. and Japan death penalty has been abolished!.

I'm a European and I'm like most of the people here against the death penalty!. I don't want to go in details why!.!.!.

What I really want to know is if some of you Americans have ever reflected why we are completely against it!. What do you think about our position!?

Oh!.!. For those who want to know if I have ever reflected on the American position!.!.!. Yes, I have!.!.!. I think that a great part of the American legal system is build upon the concept of revenge!. And this concept of revenge in law is in my opinion wrong!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it is the remnants of frontier justice!. Actually, over the past few years, many Americans are rethinking their views on the death penalty, spurred mostly by the growing number of exonerations of people sentenced to death!. I think that the dialogue must be encouraged!. Here are some of the things we are discovering, with sources below:

129 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted!. DNA, available in less than 10% of all homicides, can’t guarantee we won’t execute innocent people!.

The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder!. No reliable study shows the death penalty deters others!. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in those that don’t!.

Life without parole, on the books in 48 states, also prevents reoffending!. It means what it says, and spending 23 of 24 hours a day locked in a tiny cell is not a picnic!. Life without parole costs less than the death penalty!.

The death penalty is much more expensive than life in prison, mostly because of the upfront costs of legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people!. (upfront=before and during the initial trial)

The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers!. It doesn't apply to people with money!. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed!?

The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims!. Murder victim family members have testified that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative!.

Problems with speeding up the process!. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade!. Speed up the process and we will execute innocent people!.

In my opinion, I am against the death penalty cuz I believe that everybody has a right to live regardless of what crime you committed!. However, I recently read a book on past homicides that were solved using forensic science and actually understood why some murderers deserved to die, in particular Ted Bundy: one of America's prolific serial killersWww@Enter-QA@Com

Hmmm!.!.!.!.Very interesting topic, good friend!.!.!.

I do not really worry about the position of you Europeans!. You reject the death penalty, and I respect your position!. I don't know what Japan being the only other group with a death penalty has to do with anything!. Not every country should be the same, otherwise there would be no different cultures, just different lands!.

While I can see why people think that parole and jail does the job for criminals, there are annoying details behind this type of thought!. There are beginning to be more criminals than jails can handle, and not everyone can watch everyone on parole!. The death penalty, while not flawless, is a penalty which can be used on those who have no intention of changing their ways of destroying humanity!.

I support death, because I feel some people deserve to die!. People are not as redeemable as everything thinks they are!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
