Question: Poll for high schoolers in the USA!?
What's the condition for popularity in your school!? Is it like how they show it n the movies and TV shows like Lizzie McGuire!? All the rich and pretty people are popular!? Does this really happen!?
In my school it was quite different!. People who participated in extra curricular activities and inter school competitions and won awards, and those who were good academic performers were popular!. When I first saw Lizzie McGuire, I was shocked on how things are in US high schools!! What's the big thing about buying something from the Bargain Basement!? Is it really that important to flaunt your money even if you don't have much!?
Sorry for the length of this question!.!. but I'm really curious that's all, I don't intend to comment on anything!.

ok its not necessarily the whole lizzie mcguire thing
but popularity here is more people are in there own world
like the nerdier + goth kids have the kids in their group which they sorta hold on a pedestol
and then there are the jocks which i guess i fall into
but there are subdivisions in the jocks
there are those of us who go to parties and sorta the rest of the school moves aside from and then there are nerdier jocks who we respect alot but the rest of the school not so much
the lizzie mcguire concept is very much holding the preppier people on a pedestol vs the nerdier preps i!.e lizzie and her two friends

but in our group there are predominantly black kids and some hispanic we have a couple white kids and then 2 asian kids and then me the paki boy

in our group me and this other girl olivia are the only ones that are probably passing and arent into drugs and free sex you know
otherwise everyone else is all stoned or drunk or just shows up to school at lunch time then leaves
but i dont drink dont smoke and have advanced classes(aps) and im in that group its just noone knows im that smart except for the kids in my honors classes

my mom was like the same way cuz she use to be considered extremely popular cuz she was in athletics and debate and representing her school with honor

My high school is sort of-kind of the way they show it on movies and TV!. The rich kids hang out with each other, the middle class kids [me ;) ] hang out with each other, and the same with the poor kids!. But a bunch of the rich kids and middle class kids intermingle too!. It's also the same with the way we look too!. The pretty people seem to be the most popular [and the richest, lol] , and it goes downhill from there!. My HS has about 1,000 students, and theres about 250 in my class!. At my old school, there was only 35 in my class, and popularity wasn't a problem at all!. I guess it just depends on the size of your HS, because of the variety of the differences and similarities between everybody!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
the popular kids are all grouped together at on or two tables who all are drunks and are "pretty" but really they are pretty dumb!.

I was raised in a ghetto school!. Everyone was fairly poor, and survival was the only thing everyone-(even the leader of the toughest gang) thought about!. Not new clothes, or showing off that we had money!. As the rich kids, were more often than not, the ones that were beaten into a coma first!.

Things on TV are not like real life most of the time!. And you are right, the people that actually care about their minds instead of their looks are the ones that people like!. Still, there is emphasis on looks and money, but not to the extent of Lizzie McGuire!. And by the way, she was in Jr!. High, not high schoolWww@Enter-QA@Com
In my highschool, my little group of friends were considered "popular" and we hung out with everyone! Even the mentally challenged!. We had a blast, I don't ever even remember feeling "peer pressure!." If there was something I didn't want to partake in, my friends didn't pressure me to do it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
It depends who you hang out with!. also sports and extra curricular activities!. Everythings not like Lizzie McGuire though!. also based on what you wear and what kinda car you drive!. Not all the time but in most situations!. People are shallow lol!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
You can never rely on movies and tv shows for a country's culture because they usually only promote hte streotypical types!.
