I think it would depend on the nature of the crime, how much time they had spent paying their debt, and how much time in general had passed since the crime!.
also, if I found out about this right up front, it would definitely make it hard for me to accept them, but if we were already friends I'd like to think I would at least listen to their story and not just drop them like a bad habit!.
