He was shot by a crazy fan named Mark David Chapman!. Earlier that day John gave the fan an autograph!. After working all day John and Yoko returned to their hotel to put their son to bed!. Yoko went in first and then the fan shot John several times!. John was rushed to the hospital but was dead on arrival!. :(
Apparently Mark Chapman shot him because he was jealous of his career!. And for other reasons!. After he shot John he sat on the sidewalk and began reading the book "Catcher in the Rye"!. The crazy fan was even writing an extra chapter for the book!. Mark Chapman is still alive and in jail where he will hopefully remain for the rest of his life!.

i think early 8o's!. He was shot and killed leaving his home in NYC by mark david chapman!. Alot of people think he was assinated for his outspoken views on goverment and his influence on america!. After he married yoko ono he was more of an activist than a musician!. He was even kicked out of the USA for months for that reason!. I think our goverment was scared he would cause an uprising and had him silent!.
