You should ask him gently, "what's wrong!?" but keep your distance, and stay near the cashiers or someone who works at the store or someone you trust, just in case he's a crazy nut!. if keeps hugging you and won't let go, tell someone who works at the store and security can take him away or something, because that's invading personal space!.
