Good question!. I never thought about that!. Goodbye, from Late Middle English Godbwye/God!.b!.w!.ye, from the Middle English phrase "God be with ye", means "God Be With You!." So I guess God is supposed to be the "good" part!. It's a friendly farewell, so even if you are sad, it still makes sense to say it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
