Question: Is it just me, or does it seem to you that more and more Americans are uncivil people!?
If you think this is the case, how long have you been around to observe and what do you think the contributing factors are!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, absolutely! I have been around only 46 years and I see it!. Contributing causes: I think the start of this happened when society changed to the dual income society (although I know that many, many people need dual incomes to survive, there are many who do not) Because of this, there is lack of parental guidance and teaching at home, people became too busy to provide moral guidance, teach manners, etiquitte because parents are TOO tired!.(And it starts with parenting because they are the ones who are supposed to be raising the young who are the future society)!. Even though they are too busy to raise their children to be respectful, people also have gotten offended when other communities try to do that job like in schools and in churches,etc!. Neighbors aren't as helpful to neighbors!. Everyone is just too busy, too tired to care and too tired to be "nice"!. Our patience is gone because we are all too tired and for what!? To get our kids from one activity to the next, compete with what the neighbor has, bringing home too much money so we can buy the latest gadget, go on the coolest vacation, give the "best" birthday party!. We certainly ARE NOT family oriented society anymore at least through our HEARTS!. I think we all have too much "stuff" and we have long forgotten that LIFE is about relationships and not just with family but with people in the community!. The Golden Rule should still hold true: treat others like you want to be treated!. We should all try and live by the 10 Commandments (if you are Christian faith)!. Even if you aren't there are some that should hold true to all faiths!. Yes, there are still so many good people in this country and I certainly love this country!. I just wish we could just all slow down a bit!. Uncivil- yes!. For example last Christmas, I was crossing in a parking lot with my baby and 3 year old right next to me when I heard the roar of an engine speeding up the parking lot road!. I ran across the road as this person was going quite fast and I turned and waved my hand to tell the person to slow down!. She stopped her car (she was probably in her 50's, so NOT a teenage driver) and she wanted to know what my problem was!. I asked her to slow down in the parking lot!. She proceeded to tell me that I need to keep the kids next to me (which they were, but all of a sudden, I was at fault) !. I reminded her it was a parking lot and she then proceeds to call me the B---- word (in front of my children) and drove off!. I was in disbelief!! I said a prayer for her right away and hoped she didn't talk to her own children/grandchildren in this way!. So that to me is an example of the uncivil society that we deal with!. It happens all the time!. There seems to be no right and wrong any more!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
yes they are more uncivil, and it's going to get worse!.
In my opinion, a lot has to do with the way the kids are being raised today!. Many parent's don't beleive in teaching kids manners or how to properly conduct themselves in public and don't believe in cartain types of punishments, because of that, more and more ppl are ruder and meaner now than they were 50 yrs ago!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I have been around for 49 yrs and yes I agree with you!.!.!.seems to me we have become a me 1st society!.!.!.it is now acceptable to denigrate anything you choose as it is your right!.!.!.I think the main causes are that we no longer teach or emphasize manners,acceptance,politness,or self responsibility!.!.!.in short today if things are not the way you would like then it is ok to rant and rail as loud as you choose!.!.!.blame everyone else instead of yourself!.!.!.no need to change yourself it is not your fault!.!.!.I think it is a combination of lack of good parenting and religion!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
people are only civil as they have seen and been taught!. I think it is a cultural thing and Americans have a long history of racest views!.

I've not noticed a lack of civility (i!.e!. overt rudeness), but I do believe we have become far more wrapped up in ourselves and we just don't care about others as much as we used to!.
A minor example:30 years ago, motorcyclists used give a little wave whenever they passed each other on the street!. It didn't matter if you knew the other guy or not!. A little symbol of solidarity between bikers, no big deal!. But now, very few bikers acknowledge each other!.
A minor example, like I said!. But I miss it!. And all these little erosions of courtesy and failures in the sense of community all add up!. None of us are as connected as we used to be!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it is a shame to think that American are uncivil ,they in the second world war gave England ship loads of cloths and food and arms,ans ammunition , and even ships, So please do not say things like that , cause American people are true real people to knowWww@Enter-QA@Com
