Do you do research before you make a major purchase, like buying a car?!

Question: Do you do research before you make a major purchase, like buying a car!?
Or do you buy the first pretty one that catches your eye!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Research for weeks! I want to know what the resale value will be, if the car holds it's value, dependability, crash test rating, etc!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I do a lot of research on anything costing over $100!.

Buying something simply because it looks good or is "popular" is foolish!. Why gamble on something that is flashy but has no substance -- or will not work well!?

I'm a strong proponent of subscribing to Consumer Reports!. They do exhaustive testing on a wide variety of things, and they're completely unbiased since they don't accept any advertising from manufacturers -- they even buy the items themselves for testing, rather than accept donations from manufacturers!. I've used their reports when buying cars, cameras, stereo equipment, etc!.

And with electronics, if Consumer Reports hasn't reviewed an item I'm interested in, I'll check out Amazon!.com -- their feedback from other buyers is enormously helpful!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I ask my wife if it's okay!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I look at Consumer Reports to see how they rate a car I want before I buy it!. I've always owned used cars, so checking out the history on those is a must!Www@Enter-QA@Com
