Answers:
Yeah it's pretty sad!. Here in Utah we have one of the top percentages of teenage pregnancy!.!.!.!.

I also think culture is partly to blame!. Everything is about sex!.!.!.and its so widely accepted and encouraged to go out and have sex with anyone you can! Not that it didnt happen a few years ago, but the media really isnt helping anything!.!.!.

I dont think you can put too much of the blame on the parents!. I have a friend who got pregnant at age 16, as you know!. She has older and younger siblings who never got into near as much crap as she did, and they were raised by the same parents in the same ways!. So how can it be completely the parents fault!? Obviously it's partly parents responsability to educate their children, but you can't say they are the reason the girl got knocked up!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes it is sad but we can't just blame the education system for it!. Most of the blame should be put at the parents of the teenagers!. I recently went to a meeting at one of my daughters primary school to discuss sex education in years 5 & 6!. All parents were invited and out of a possible 60 parents only 4 turned up, myself included!. At high school a lot of children are given an opt out of having sex education, especially if the parent objects!. I have sat down with my daughters and we have talked about it, much to their embarassment and to a point mine, but I want them to be informed about it, and not to become another statistic!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with Paul D!. I am a primary school teacher, and I know for a fact that children are taught the information they need to know - in our school, the Year 5 children are taught exactly how babies are created and how to prevent this, because we live in an area with a high rate of teenage pregnancy!. It is certainly not because the children are not being educated about it properly at school, it is the lack of boundaries set by the parents that is the problem!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yes i do have to agree with you, i think it' today's permissive society that's partly to blame also, but no matter what you can't force them to take precautions,
also about how much can the parents be blamed, as a parent i would say regretfully you can't keep your eye on them twenty four hours a day, so you just have to give them all the advice you can, and just hope they are taking precautions, AnnWww@Enter-QA@Com

As a parent I think it is quite difficult!. I believe in sex education!. I have certainly educated both my children and they have had talks and watched films in school about it!. But there is a lot of peer pressure and children as young as 5 are talking about their boyfriends/girlfriends which I find quite worrying!. I often see other children from age 10 upwards kissing and cuddling I think it's a big worry for parents but at the end of the day all you can do is educate them and hope they have enough sense to do the right thing at the right time and help them deal with the consequences if they don't!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Just another example of the crap state that this island of ours is in!. The education system is utter b*ll*cks to be honest Hurf, the only things my kids seem to be learning is what I teach them!. Teachers just do it as a job now and not a vocation!. I'll stop there I'll be on my soap box in a minute and I'll be filling pages full of rant!.
Some of it is down to parenting and down to the government also > people seem to be no worse off whether they work or not so teens think hell why not get pregnant, I'll get a flat and money or they think I cant get a job anyway coz there are none might as well have a family now!.
plus there is the whole binge drinking thing half of them probably get pregnant after a drunken fling
I could go on more > I think I'll just start a revolution insteadWww@Enter-QA@Com

I think that it is society to blame - If you are a single parent particulary a young one, you go to the top of the housing list!. It is their way of securing accommodation!.

I am not so sure that it is the parents entire fault, at the end of the day, it is not them that is having unprotected sex is it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hurf I'm a teacher in a primary school and we are not allowed to discuss anything about the reproduction system or relationships with the kids!.!.local government policies make this impossible!.!.!.in my opinion this is totally ridiculous as i feel the younger the kids know the REAL facts in laymans terms the better!.!.!.!.!.but as teachers our hands are tied!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

I think it says more about the useless Labour government than anything else!.!.!.!.this is why these kids deliberately get themselves pregnant, knowing they will be looked after by a Labour government!.!.!.!.and who is it that pays for all these unnecessary hand outs!!!.!.the likes of you and me matey!!!.!.I know Maggie Thatcher might not have been the ideal PM,but she would never have allowed this country to get into the state we're in now!.!.!.and these kids would have been made to have worked to keep their kids!.!.not given a free life of luxury paid for by the workers!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Doesn't say much at all, just that health and sex ed needs to be reinforced at home too!. Just like others aspects of life!.!.!.!.!. it's not just school, it's their home life that's important too!.

There seems to be a culture in some groups of kids where it's seen as "cool" to be a parent with a baby!.!.!. and it shows a sign of possession to their partner!. Almost like a permanent hickey that cries and poops!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think that teenage pregnancy is getting way out of hand!.
Most girls who live in the area I live, just get pregnant so that they can get a house!.
It's really sad!.
There's more to life then having a baby so young!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It isn't the schools that should teach our children, it is ourselves as parents!. We should teach and talk to our own children about sex!.
I have an 11year old son who I speak to about sex and puberty!. If he asks questions bout it, I don't shy it away but answer him honestly and explain!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Probably an unpopular thing to say, but!.!.!.!. I would say this is more down to parents that the "education system" if the latter is purely schools etc!. Parents can't devolve responsibility for this to schools!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think the parents realize they made a mistake and they try to take responsibility for it!. But its hard for them being so young, but they try so hard to clear up the mistake they did!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

2 of my friends from high school are pregnant!.!.!.they're both 17 and possibly got pregnant at 16!.
Can't imagine myself with a child, what a way to ruin your life!.

I think you can sum this up as part of the "instant world" we live in these days Hurf!.

You could blame the parents, - but many of them become grandparents when they're younger than me ;)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Very little blame on the system or parents, teenagers will never stop having funWww@Enter-QA@Com

I always wondered if it was education system or lack of parenting from their own parents !.!.!.!.maybe a bit of both !Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think its stupid - next they will be moaning because they cant go out and have fun because they have to stay in with thir kid!.!.!. Serves them right!Www@Enter-QA@Com

It is pretty sad and something needs to be done in schools to reduce the ratesWww@Enter-QA@Com

we can preach to kids all we want and teach them til the cows come home but ultimately they're gonna make their own decisions and there's really nothing we can do once they decide what they "want"Www@Enter-QA@Com

I DONT think teens these days have the patience to wait till they're married!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It is their bed they have to sleep in it not me!Www@Enter-QA@Com
