Question: Is it true that hurricanes are strongest at sea and lose power over land, if so why do you think that is!?
Answers:
Yes it is true,They slow down and lose power when traveling over land because they are no longer connected to the severe humidity and warm water sources that gave them their original power!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Normally, it is supposed to be true, merely because there is more friction on land (less water)!. Atlantic storms also tend to be less severe when they hit coast line than Gulf Storms because the Atlantic has far more waves than the stagnant water of the Gulf!.
But, not all storms have died on land!. Last year, while leaving in Oklahoma!. A tropical storm downgraded to a tropical depression, until it hit Oklahoma were it became a full out tropical storm, in the middle of the United States no where near water!.
It all depends on Mother Nature in the end I guess!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The ocean is a source of warm convection to fuel the Hurricane!. The ocean is flat, so it gets more energy!. Once the Hurricane hits land, the elevation of the land weakens it and the Hurricane dissipates!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
It could be something to do with the current of the water and the waves sucking it in!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
because they suck water from the oceans to power them and they don't get too much power from concrete!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
