What is YOUR answer to lowering the price of gas, food, etc?!

Question: What is YOUR answer to lowering the price of gas, food, etc!?
i want honest answersWww@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I think we need to keep the prices where they are and just learn to adapt!. I know it is tough, but once we get rid of our gas guzzlers and learn to efficiently heat/cool our homes, find alternative energy, learn to grow some of our own foods!.!.!. then things will be better all around!.

I would much rather adapt than to keep doing things that may come back and bite us in the *** even worse!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Organize a widespread boycott of as much as possible!. Don't drive, or make a cause for other people drive!.

The cost of everything has really increased because of the price!. Buy local goods so that they don't have to be shipped!. Grow your own food!. Go green with your house by turning up the temperature on the A/C, turning off unneeded lights, putting computers in standby when not in use!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

1!. Gas!.

End dependence on foreign oil

Become energy independent

Drill for oil at home
Open ANWR to Drilling
Increase offshore oil drilling
Build More Refineries

Develope alternate energy sources which are cleaner and more efficient!.

Conserve energy
Decrease demand

Gradually wean ourselves from oil

2!. Food

The high cost of food is related to the high cost of fuel, although that is not the only reason!. The average American meal travels about 1500 miles from farm to plate!. Doesn't it cost extra money and fuel to transport food that distance!? I live in California, yet in my local food stores I see avocado from Chile, cantaloupe from Guatemala, asparagus from Peru, oranges from South Africa or Australia, green pepper from Mexico and garlic from China!. So while California is transporting it's produce across the rest of the country, my little town is getting imported food!. Does that make any sense!? What has happened is we have become too global!. What is needed is the local food system needs to be rebuilt!. In the mean time I will support the local farmers!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Honestly!? Pressure!. There must be leverage there somewhere!. The US is consuming 30 percent less gasoline this year!. The US also consumes the most!. The biggest market consuming 50 percent less is alot of leverage!. Of course, breaking up the oil monopoly and putting a stop to the price gouging our village idiot of a president is being party to would go a long way as well!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think we should stop curing terminal diseases!. for example, we should stop trying to cure cancer, aids, etc!.
i think it's perfectly fine to increase the QUALITY of life for everyone, but stop trying to increase the QUANTITY of life, that each of us live!. in other words, there are too many people living too long!.
i also think conception should be controlled!. you should have to get a license to do this, take several intelligence tests, and take many parenting classes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think part of the answer could come from nuclear energy!. also, making things like gas saving scooters and cheaper type electric cars to run about the city in would be another great way to become more efficient!. We need the government to encourage this kind of transportation more!. We need the government help people with conversion to cheaper types of transportation!. Huge tax breaks or transportation supplements to the poorer folks for purchasing these things!.More public transportation also would help!. If we can spend trillions in Iraq, why can't we help our OWN people!? We need to stop all dependence on foreign oil and gas!. We are a great country, why can't we become independent of foreign oil and gas!? Building more bike paths would lead to a healthier society!. I think we need to rethink how we look at getting to the store and back!. Our scientists need to be funded in developing other sources of energy!. If we drastically decrease the demand for oil and gas, we just may be able to produce enough on our own to meet most of our needs!. But then that would leave the greedy oil and gas companies and the Saudis a bit upset!.!.!.!.!. wouldn't it!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

stop speculation!. there's nothing that we as consumers can really do since we rely on both gas and food, but if we ended speculation then the prices would go way down!. there's no way that demand and supply can change as drastically as prices have in the past few months!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Revert back to old methods of transportation!.!.!.Walking, riding a bike!. Growing your own food, drive less, eat only fresher foods and not a bunch of over priced processed non-sense!. Plant a tree or two!. We have become so accustom to convenience that we took it for granted, now it is kind of biting us back!. I say we just have to use all means necessary and not toss all eggs in one barrel, errr umm, I mean basket!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Someone claimed it was the speculator's fault the gas prices are high!.
I prefer no speculators!. This means zero speculators, what do we need them for!?
This is the only way!Www@Enter-QA@Com

The raising of minimum wage raised the price of gas and food!.!. so decreasing food and gas prices would lower minimum wage resulting in pretty much no differenceWww@Enter-QA@Com

My theory is that the Middle East wants to crush the world economy especially the USA, and there isn't anything we can do about it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I want to switch lets all drop gas and begin the search for alternative fuels its the soultion to everything sadly there is not much the average person can really do about itWww@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with the first answerer!. We need to find a way to make alternate fuel sources practical and affordable, and slowly switch from gasoline!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The only thing that could possibly do that is finding an alternative fuel source and busting up the current fuel monopolies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Eat rice and beans and grow your own vegetables!. Ride a bike!. This will run you about $12!.73 per month and you will be very healthy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

get out of iraq and fuel prices will come down but ultimately fuel will run out and higher prices are forcing people to change their habits to become more sustainable!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

sell your cars and buy horses, or just ride a bike, and for food, go to the cheap stores like amelias and costcos and stuffWww@Enter-QA@Com

Reduce the global population!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

To create alternative sources of renewable energy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

stop the immigrants!!
no honestly no more illegal immigrantsWww@Enter-QA@Com

Honestly!? I had to give this one more than a few minutes of thought here!.!.!.so I'm letting you know *Now*, this is a *long-form* Answer!.

If I put something in Quotes, "like this", it means "copy and paste me, whole phrase" and search at any *one* of the three sites below, unless I offer a different link:

Having got that out of the way!.

Working on the Fuel Prices:

--Actually, the real issue is that our gasoline prices have been *by far* too cheap compared to the prices for petrol charged by the liter by our peers in Japan and Western Europe!. They tax the *daylights* out of gasoline so that the money is there to encourage alternatives to using more and bigger automobiles!. But!.!.!.!.

--In the Next *5 Years*, it might be a prudent idea to encourage a switchover, as much as possible, to vehicles that run on natural gas and propane (liquified petroleum gas, a resource commonly *bled off* and Wasted by Big Oil as they drill)!. This way you'll reduce your CO2 emissions, and the fuels are slightly cheaper than gasoline these days!. This was Hong-Kong's response to widespread smog issues from diesel engines, a switch to natural gas!. also, encourage our Congressmen and other political *Leaders* to advocate pushing "high-temperature fuel cell" designs into motor vehicles ASAP!. They aren't as efficient as Proton Exchange Membrane cells, ok!.!.!.!.but they have the advantage of being able to *steam crack* methane (natural gas) and propane into hydrogen and a *small* amount of CO2 (one-tenth of what gasoline cars put out now)!.

Meaning!? We *Have* the infrastructure to put this tech into use *right now* since "high temperature fuel cells" don't need to run on straight hydrogen, and can in fact run on gaseous fuels we already have and *use*!. If nothing else we *can* conceivably make methane (natural gas) from coal liquids!.!.!.or waste from meat plants (discarded turkey and beef parts), or cellulose, the way *cows do*!.

--In the Next *10 Years*, Researchers need to be widely encouraged to look into "deep sea bacteria" and "volcanic trench bacteria", as some species of these micro-organisms can spontaneously generate *methane (natural gas)* and *butane (a fuel gas used in lighters)* as a result of their natural metabolism!. They do this as they consume "sea debris" off of the ocean floor under extremes of temperature and pressure!. Look into *how* these bacteria make "methane" and "butane" from "sea debris"!.

Then find a way to engineer algae and/or algae/bacterial colonies that can do this at the ocean's *surface* in a manner that can allow the fuel gases to be collected!.

--In the Next *20 Years* we need to wean ourselves off of both gasoline and gaseous hydrocarbons completely!.!.!.!.and there's only *one* clear replacement candidate that comes to mind!. No, *not* hydrogen!.

Phosphorous!. It needs *no* provocation to burn, just a little friction for the red version, and merely dry oxygen for the white one!. It could be used in *tiny amounts* to propel high-pressure, superheated *vapor engines*!. Here's how!.

It's all about "sonoluminescence"!.!.!.it's a process by which high-frequency ultrasound is used to ignite bubbles (of gases, produced by the vibration of dissolved material in the liquid) of material at high temperatures!. Conceivably a high-efficiency "superheated vapor engine" could run off of "sonoluminescence" if the water was under high enough pressure, and had meaningful amounts of both oxygen and phosphorus dissolved in the water!. The phosphorous burns, the water boils and vaporizes under pressure, leaving the phosphates behind, and then the vapor drives the engine!.

So where to get the "phosphorous"!? ^_^ This one's so simple it's medieval!.!.!.!.prisoners know this one!. It's a natural byproduct of human metabolism--life on earth couldn't exist without phosphorous!.

It's in your urine!. All you have to do to *get* "white phosphorous" is to boil your own piss under enough pressure, long enough that the stuff settles out of it as the water vapor leaves!. It's simple, easy and cheap--and rather dangerous--rather like drilling for petroleum, don't you think!?

And unlike petroleum, *nobody* has a monopoly!. Wherever there's indoor plumbing, conceivably, there's fuel for the taking!.

Now!.!.!.!.!.About the Food:

--Price gouging and speculation need to end, that much is clear!. However, what's less clear is that the "cash crop" mentality that drives *too much* of worldwide agriculture needs to end as well!.

One of the reasons why folks in the United States aren't having food riots is because we have a *diversity of* staple crops: not just rice, but wheat, potatoes, soybeans, oats, corn and so on!. The rest of the world needs to be *encouraged* to do this as much as is possible, to have at least *two* if not more staple crops that can grow so that if one fails, people can still eat!.

Author William H!. McNeill put it best in his contribution to _What If!? 2_, the second in a series of "counterfactual history" projections published in 2001 by American Historical Publications, Inc!.: "!.!.!.Of course, much else entered into Europe's rise and recent withdrawal from world dominion; but it is surely safe to say that potatoes from Peru were essential for fueling the swarming human biomass that sustained Europe's imperial ventures!. Potatoes thus powerfully affected the general course of world history since 1750!."

In short, Europe needed more than wheat crops to feed and fuel its people, not just to sustain them but to cope with their expansion, both in numbers and activity!.

Staple crop diversity is good, if not *Vital* if you want to *sustain* a growing population!.

--So!.!.!.in the next *5 years*, world governments need to *HEAVILY Encourage*, if not outright insist or demand that nations worldwide develop *staple crop diversity*!. The Group of Eight (the richest nations *Including the United States) need to play a BIG role in funding and reinforcing the diversification of agriculture on a worldwide basis!.

This flies against the wind of globalization theory, sure!.!.!.but the frailty of the "cash crop" economy is a luxury we can no longer afford, especially in a world of brutally unpredictable weather!. Self-Sufficiency is in again, at least as it regards *Basic Staple Foods*!.

--In the next *10 years*, We need to make some *hard* and *UNPOPULAR* choices in terms of which environments and species we need to survive *ourselves*, and which ones are "disposable"!. Yes, it's an ethical nightmare, and WE OURSELVES are the only ones to blame here!. WE painted ourselves into this corner!. There's no confusion on this one at all!.

But, with only so much *money* to go around, we really can't *sustain* lavishing resources on Spotted Owls and obscure slugs and fungi when people *go hungry*!.

So as much as I hate to say this: We need to plan ahead and *move farming North* where the arable land is!. Or south if you live south of the planetary equator!.!.!.point is, as global warming deepens, more land within the "middle latitudes" will dry up, "desertify" and become hard to impossible to sustain meaningful herding and agriculture on!. California, for *example*, is already having to pump more and more water from "deep aquifers" just to sustain its highly irrigated methods of agriculture!.

And it's only going to get worse, which means we need to be ready to move farming to where the *useful land* and *tolerable climate" are, be it further north or further south!. And we have to be *willing to USE* the land even if it's a wildlife preserve!.!.!.!.

Likewise, we need to switch our priorities in terms of non-vegetable food sources (meats and dairy)!. We need to decide: do we *give up* non-plant food sources so that we have *as much land as possible* to grow food on!?

Or do we decide to exploit the seas as much as possible, with an eye on *taming it* so that fish, manatee, sharks, whales, and crustaceans can be grown and *used* as actively as possible *Without* species depletion!?

Either way one has to submit that we have to *give up* growing milk and meats on dry land!. There just won't be enough arable farmland otherwise!.

--And in the Next *20* years, we really *do* need to look into the whole notion, absurd as it sounds, of whether or not we can "grow crops on Mars"!. Yes, it's the most fuel-intensive thing ever, but if this can be possibly done for *two* engineered staple crops, it will do a *LOT* to maintain current dietary diversity for humanity!. People don't live on Mars!.!.!.it would only take a *handful* of small outposts and a lot of robotics to use as much *NON-acidic* land as the planet can support!. The only real questions are: can it work, and if so *How*!?

And even so!.!.!.!.eventually we *will* go out into space for longer and longer periods of time!. Some brave, bitter few might even choose to *live their lives* out in the black!. In so doing they will create a demand for larger vessels and orbiting *cities* that can sustain them!.!.!.!.and with those, comes the possibility of growing *more* of our meat and dairy out in space, thanks to tightly controlled aquatic mini-environments (needed for active life support anyway) and their engineered animals!.

Yes, I know!. This is going to lead to a world where 93% of the population is *required* to be either vegan or sterile, because either having children or having meat/dairy of any sort are *Both* going to be made hideously expensive!.

It's going to suck hardcore!.

But we brought this on ourselves!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
