We had an ice storm in northern NY where we lost electricity for 15 days!. We put our perishables in a snow tunnel that my dad made and played cards by candlelight!. We had it worse off than some people because we didn't have a generator, but we had it a lot better than a lot of people because we had a gas stove for cooking and a wood stove for heat!. I was six when it happened and I don't have any bad memories from the ice storm!. I liked it a lot!. =]Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sure!.!.!.!.numerous times!. The key is to set yourself up for such an occurence before it occurs!. If you live in a rural area a good idea is to have a gas or propane powered generator for key functions (well pump, stove, heat), or, lacking that, get yourself a gas stove, and if you have a fireplace get one with gas logs to heat the home in the winter, or a wood stove if you've got a stockpile of wood!.
Last time we lost power during a two-foot snowstorm for six days, and we did fine with the gas log fireplace to heat the house, and a gas stove to cook on!. The perishable food went outside since it was cold enough to keep food cold!. For water in the toilet tanks I just melted snow on the stove and put the resulting water in a bucket to refill the toilet tanks!. Heck, don't forget, people were living without electricity for eons before electricity came around!. :-)Www@Enter-QA@Com

1!. First and foremost get dry ice for the freezer:
Then call all cousins to see if they still have power!. If they have power go crash with them: If not proceed to step 2:

2!. get the porta potties out so can use the bathroom or get water out of nearest source like pond, river, lake or stream for commodes
3!. go get plenty of water: drinking and cooking water:
4!. get the lanterns out so will have light!.
5!. get the camp stove out and fired up so can cook and make coffee!.
6!. get the portable camp shower set up
7!. If in winter get camp heaters fired up: Making sure it is well ventilated to the outside!.!.
8!. Get inverter plugged into trucks cigarette lighter so can charge up electric razor to shave with and keep fresh batteries on charge for T!.V!. and radio!.
9!. Everybody head out to nearest truck stop cafe etc that still has power to sit around talk and drink coffee!.

Needless to say live in the country and when we lose power the well pump doesn't work either!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i'll work on my mazes during the day or anything that i can be creative with during natural daylight!. drawing, poetry, etc and play games like someone else said

as far as night goes!.!.!.might as well go to sleep early or tell scary stories!. or if you can play a non-electric musical instrument then theres a good incentive to practice!.

in my case i could play my acoustic-electric guitar which is loud with or without it connected!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the whole area where i lived lost power for several days in the summer of 03!. i just lit candles, read, cleaned, and listened to my neighbors playing their guitars on their balconies!.!.!. i was on E in my car, so I was pretty much stuck at homeWww@Enter-QA@Com

Light candles, read, play board games!. Built a fire in a buried barrel in the yard, roasted marshmallows and ate hot dogs!. Washed around a corner, brushed teeth from a cup - use your imagination - it could be fun!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes we lost electricity for 2 weeks because of an ice storm!. We had to stay in a hotel!.
