Question: SURVEY - Now that the supermarkets have cut their fuel prices!.!.!.!.!.!?
Is now the right time to boycott the main petrol stations in protest of the rip off fuel prices!?!?!?

This is a UK only question and if you don't drive then this doesn't apply to you either, so no "I don't drive" answers please!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think a lot of people are doing exactly that - I went to fill up at my local Morrisons the other day and had to queue for about 20 minutes!. Across the road the BP was comparitvely empty!.!.!.

Yes and no!. I know that the main petrol stations are a rip off and something needs to be done about that, but we're also getting played by the supermarkets who will cut out the competition!. Most of the main petrol stations are owned on a franchise basis by small businesses!. If they can't compete with the supermarkets they will close down, playing into the hands of the supermarkets who can then bump the prices right up with no competition!. The only winners here are the big companies, supermarkets and oil companies (who provide the fuel to whoever will pay )_!. It's all screwed up, we're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm not from the UK, but I know from an economics standpoint that if a supermarket cuts fuel prices, the only way that is possible is to either mark up prices of products inside the store to pay for the loss in profit, or make a deal with the fuel suppliers!. Either way, the supermarket gets their fuel from the same fuel suppliers that the petrol stations get their fuel from!. If you boycott the main petrol stations, it'll just raise prices at the supermarket!. You're screwed either way!.

If you really want to stick it to the fuel suppliers, buy a scooter!. Some get up to 100 mpg, or triple the fuel economy of cars! I think that amounts to 40 km/LWww@Enter-QA@Com

The WHOLE COUNTRY should go on strike for 2 days and NOT use a car, leave it in your garage, on your drive!. If the petrol companies lost the revenue from everyone not using a car for 2 days they would soon do something about the rip-off, sorry price!

The petrol companies seem to love it when there's a threat of a forecourt block coz we all rush out and panic buy more petrol than we normally would!!

I've only been putting £15 worth in my tank!. couldn't see the point of carrying a full tank around using more petrol to carry all that fuel in the tank!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well only a few coppers, but yes !.!. I have only used Tesco or Asda for years!. Only time not is if on holiday and have to use a local station!. !.!.!.!.Some of the motor way places, the prices are ridiculous!. I always fill up at Tesco before I go!.
PS to the replies above, the non UK ones!. ,, Petrol is priced in litres, about £1!.17 and upwards!. So near £6 a gallon ($12 nearly)!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well!.!. i just feel gutted that i filled up a tank!.!. costing over £55!.!. just before they reduce the price!

it's hard to believe that until very recently, the price was under £1!.00!.!. and everyone said there would be uproar when it surpassed that amount!.!.!.!.
what happened!.!.!.!. nothing!.!. everyone kept buying petrol!.!. because they had no choice!.

it's hard to really point the finger at who's to blame!.!. the speculators on the commodity markets!?!.!. the government with the taxes!?!.!.!. or the fuel companies that make billions of pounds in profits each year!.!.!.!.!. or perhaps they're all in league together to profit from us!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Most people i know go to supermarkets to save a few quid but like someone else said we'd be naive to think that the supermarket isnt adding the money on to something else to make up the difference!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My local is luckily sitting at the same price as the supermarkets at the minute, but as soon as it differs i tend to go to the supermarkets!Www@Enter-QA@Com
