well its not called ball chart or a moon chart because a ball or moon is not cut into peices!.!.
and its not called a pizza chart because the peices of a pizza are cut into even sizes ans most pie charts aren't even!.!.

1!. The moon was thought to be an influence in the financial markets and they did not want to confuse anyone!.
2!. A ball is to dimensional to divide correctly for most of us unmath people!.
3!.Pizza wasn't popular yet!.

They call it a pie chart because it is in the shape of a pie and is cut like a pie!. That should cover the first 3 questions!. For the last one, whenever they made this 'pie' chart up, pizza was probably not as popular as it is now!. but pie has always been popular!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

they call it pie chart because when they want to show a percentage they cut out the pieces like they would with a pie!. the different cut outs look like pie pieces!.
