facts by experts state other wise!. Many say we won't even see a price break until 2030 (I don't own a car and I don't live in america so I don't care hahaa) But here's an interesting point McCain never brings up!. Right now in Alaska-as these piplelines are pumping at full capacity and doing fine-why do alaskans pay the highest prices!? they pay 8!.50 a gallon!. Why aren't they getting the cheapeast gas when they are in oil country!?

Don't forget the fact that Americans like everything big which means they are driving bigger cars and longer distances!. America is a lot bigger than a lot of other countries so Americans have to driver further to get to where they're going!.

Alaska does not do the refining of oil into gasoline!.!.!. that gets done down in the continental USA, like Houston, New Orleans, wherever, but not in Alaska!. SO!.!.!. it comes from Alaska, it moves down the pipeline to where it gets refined (costing money) then it has to be shipped back up to Alaska (more cost) which in turn makes the gasoline cost more!.
I have a different question: Why is the gasoline in Illinois about 30 cents more than that in Iowa, Kentucky, and Missouri!? I visited up there from Houston and it was so weird to see such a dramatic change in price just by crossing a state border!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm an American who is totally against offshore oil drilling for two reasons!. first, it's environmentally destructive!. I went to college in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA where a devastating oil spill in 1969 led to the founding of Earth Day the following year!. Of course, in 1989 the horrible Exxon Valdez oil spill created a huge disaster in Alaska!. So, I don't believe in fouling up the environment just to save a few pennies!.
Second, we Americans need to do more to reduce our dependence on oil!. Oil is expected to run out in 20 or 30 years!. What do we do when it runs out!? I hope whoever gets elected in January works towards conservation, stricter environmental standards, and researching cleaner, alternative forms of energy!. The only way oil and gas prices are goin g to drop is for supply to greatly exceed demand and for oil companies to stop being greedy crooks!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Not really!. The name of the game is supply and demand!. If a million wells were drilled off shore, why would the oil companies pump them to top capacity if that would mean they'd need to sell it for much less money!. If we want the prices to go down, then conservation is the way to go, in fact it's starting to work a bit now, oil has dropped $27 a barrel, from it's all time high!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
