put the month first, then the date, then the year!. It always confuses me lol!. In Ireland we put the date first, then the month, then the year

Answers:
It is very confusing for me too because in Greece we put the day first as well!.Then month and year!.unfortunately this is just the way it is but i don't understand why some American answerers here get so defensive!.For everyone the right way is the way they were taught but all should agree that they are the minority and that is why it gets confusing to everyone else!.
We also use metres, kilos and Celsius,so for me everyone that uses inches, stones, libres and Fahrenheit is also confusing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Things are different depending on where you are!. This is true for many things!. Maybe the world should pick one way!. How bout the year 1st then the month, then the day!. The only time it is confusing for me is when people migrate here & open a store & they use the way from their country!. I can't tell which is the day & which is the month!. If I went to another country I would use the customs there, & I think people should try to do the same when they come here!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

My country which base on British system, is same as your stoo, date-month

Heck I think most people use this system, the only country I came across using the American system is, well, the Americans

And its funny how people claim that everyone else have it backwards instead when the British has long use this format!.
Www@Enter-QA@Com

They do the same in Mexico!. Sometimes when people come to my office and sign in or fill out forms, I have to do a double take because I read for example 28-01-08!. And I'm like "what"!.!.!.what's the 28th month!?!?

I honestly don't know who or when the format was decided!. So hopefully some very intelligent P/S'er will know!. So I'll come back to your Q!.

Great question!. Have a good one!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, you know!.!.!.we always have to be different! (lol)

It's just the way we've all been taught to do it throughout the years!.!.!.!.month, date, year!.!.!.!.!.

It always throws me when I read something with the date from my British pen-pals, too!.!.!.so you guys are just as confusing!! (lol)

08/07/2008

Makes sense to me!. We put the month first(tells us what month of the year) then the date(tells us what day of the month) then the year last!.

07/08/2008

That would confuse me, cause I would think it was July instead of August!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

How com Irish people!.!.!.

put the date first, then the month, then the year!. It always confuses me lol!. In America we put the month first, then the date, then the year!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It is indeed confusing! However, since I am into genealogy!.!.!.I write!.!.!.
(for say September 1, 2008) 1 September 2008!. (We genealogists are a strange group!.)Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's not usually done the way you mentioned, and most often it's like your method!. Some liberals apparently tried to change it and screw it up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't really know!. It's the way things!.!.!. are!. lol!. i've never really noticed that before until you pointed it out, though!.
Interesting question!
I'll star it :]Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's not just Americans who do that!. Other countries also do it that way!. however I do recognize we are in the minorityWww@Enter-QA@Com

the real question is "Why does everybody but Americans do it backward" lolWww@Enter-QA@Com

it's so confusing cause you never know if it's the month or the date just live everyday as if it was your last, hahaWww@Enter-QA@Com
