I wouldn't want to be a second wife either!. I'm married now and plan to remain happily married til death do us part!. My parents have been married for 30+ years and so have his!. We don't really believe in divorce!.
But what if something terrible happened, like a man's first wife died of cancer!? If I were a single woman, I wouldn't hold that against him for being married before!.
