Jack Nicholson portrayed perfectly what the Joker is SUPPOSED to be: A criminal mastermind that controls the show with a freakishly humorous side!.
Heath Ledger portrayed the Joker how HE wanted: A common criminal with absolutely no sense of humor!. There was nothing Joker-ish about what Ledger's character did!.
In contrast, everything Nicholson's character did was humorous in a deranged way (killing his boss while laughing, dancing and skipping or burning another boss with a handshake gag)

Most people on here are teenagers so their first impression of the Joker was the new one and they connect better to him because hes younger!. The teenage boys want to be like him and the girls want to do him!.Just like Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom!. He's in that category!. I think the old one was better!. I mean the new one was more of like the serial killer crazy type, but the old one was more of the boss of all criminals!. I mean jack nicholsons version really ran the show and would never be caught dead in a jail cell!. He would have gotten all those inmates in the jail cell to riot because he was like a leader like Al Capone or Gotti or something!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
